Chronic pain disorders

Modeling chronic pain disorders

Human monogenic pain disorders can be caused by mutations in peripheral voltage-gated sodium channels. Cellular expression systems are lacking the patients´ individual genetic background. To understand the impact of SCN11A on human nociceptors, we generate iPSC-derived nociceptors from pain patients who carry rare genetic variants e.g. SCN11A (Nav1.9) and investigate their electrical properties.
