Citizens' lecture

Prof. Beate Winner, head of the Stem Cell Biology Department and spokesperson for the Center for Rare Diseases and the KFO524, gave an exciting lecture on the secrets of the brain-gut axis and the role of stem cell research in the service of health to over 150 interested members of the public as part of the Erlangen University Hospital's Citizens' Lecture. She explained the innovative research approach of the clinical research group GB.Com and its project leaders to an attentive audience.

Following the lecture, Prof. Winner offered a lively discussion with the participants. Questions from members of the public covered topics such as the use of antibiotics, proper nutrition, the capabilities and limitations of stem cell cultures and the latest recommendations from research. Prof. Winner emphasized that research is constantly progressing and that many areas are still open for discovery.
