Girls Day 2024

Girls Day 2024

We are delighted with the successful Girls' Day, on which 21 schoolgirls were able to immerse themselves in the world of research for a day.

The day began with inspiring presentations by Prof. Winner and Prof. Günther, who each outlined their personal career paths and emphasized how important it is that women are also represented in management positions. Afterwards, the girls accompanied our employees in groups of four and were able to get hands-on at various experimental stations such as “DNA isolation”, “cell culture”, “fluorescence microscopy” and “histology”. They extracted their own DNA, stained pancreatic slices, looked at them under the microscope or studied DNA in the cell nucleus and cell culture systems. Some girls also had the opportunity to spend a day alongside Professor Claudia Günther, bioinformatician Sofia Leistl or Managing Director Naime Zagha. After the experiments, everyone enjoyed lunch together, followed by the opportunity to make posters and present to the group what they had experienced and what they particularly enjoyed.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive and we are delighted that several schoolgirls have already expressed an interest in doing an internship with us. Girls' Day was not only educational, but also inspiring for the next generation of female researchers!
